| Moluccan Cockatoos are one of the largest
of the Cockatoos. Moluccans are extremely affectionate, emotional,
and overly sensitive. They are more nervous than the other
Cockatoos. Their feelings are easily hurt, and this can lead
to problem behaviors. They are also the most demanding of
the Cockatoos. They tend to throw their food more than most
Cockatoos, and are very loud. However, some individuals who
are not just content with screaming, will learn to talk and
whistle. They can deliver vicious bites, sometimes going right
to the bones. Luckily, if early rules and guidelines are established
when the baby is brought home these birds can be wonderful
pets. They will cuddle with anyone who is willing to do so.
When startled the Moluccan may sway its body back and forth
and hiss. They will even stamp their feet.
The Moluccan Cockatoo is one of the largest of the cockatoo
species. It is one of the more affectionate, intelligent and
emotional of the Cockatoos. Because he is very cuddly and
affectionate he can be very easily spoiled as a baby and become
very demanding (i.e., screaming for attention) as an adult.
It is crucial to purchase the Moluccan as an infant so as
to avoid those who have been previously spoiled.
Moluccan Cockatoos are a full sized Cockatoo with pinkish
colored feathers on the underside of the crest on the top
of their head. Some are pinkish all over while other remain
white. They can learn to talk, as can most Cockatoos and are
easy to teach all kinds of tricks. Cockatoos in general are
a very loving type of bird that needs a lot of attention from
their owners. Buy a Cockatoo only if you can spend a lot of
time with it.
Cockatoos can be quite loud screechers. The behavior can
be reduced by giving attention and proper surroundings. Also,
since they are prone to chewing, if they are not given enough
attention they will chew their own feathers. Loves to climb
and play and chew. Provide lots of toys
